Some random things and a dancing bug

Just some random things.  I'm pretty sure you can figure out the gist of them without any descriptions for each, so I won't bore you guys with any of that on this post. ;)  If you do have questions, feel free to ask.  You can also find me on facebook and deviantart if you'd rather contact me there. 

And an interesting fact I just discovered is that I just saw a link on my stats that led to this post, that is apparently based off of my original blog post here.    They referenced use of my page and even the page that I used as reference (I'm assuming I was somehow their main reference for that to happen).  So I guess that's pretty cool.  I can't imagine anyone learning anything from that post though LoL!  If anyone does happen to use it to make a sketchbook, I'd love to see how it comes out.  ;D 

 Just a little doodle. I called him Mr. Ducky at first, but now that I think about it, I'm not even sure he's a duck? Should it be sir clucky? Does it even matter?

Regardless, this came out way better then I anticipated. O.O The hat seems a bit out of place with my terrible shading on it, but it can always be removed I suppose.

 

I wasn't sure what to do with my doodle, so I added him to this. I still don't quite know the adventure, but it makes for a fun, weird scene I guess. That rabbit and key could definitely be fun in a series of their own. I really should try writing this stuff out sometime and come up with actual ideas that make sense. :/

 Some quick sketches and color/line/whatever else practice while recuperating from a nasty cold.

The pet here was originally a cat. But it looks more like a dog to me. :/ But I liked the way the girl came out.

 I've been under the weather and decided to play around with this while trying to rest.

Bunches more practice

 This is missing something, I just can't figure out what. :/ Nothing I can think of would fit right to me. But I liked the design. I may revisit this later and rework it a bit. I think it makes a rather cute simple stand alone piece. This little owl character actually popped into my head when I was working on my Misfit characters. I thought maybe he might live among them somehow.

 These were so much fun. They originally started out as musical notes. And they sort of turned into musical note candles? When I gave them a background, they just looked like a trio singing out happy birthday to someone, so I added the wicks and flames. I would love to create more things with these three. They just seem like a fun little group. And I was really pleased with the colors and overall look of this. I planned on naming them possibly Fa, La, and Lala.

 

Just a little more practice with digital painting. Still trying to find something that works for me. Created this little guy for a quick study. The green crown should have been yellow it seems. Or black. Definitely would have suited him better with those colors. Live and learn I guess.

The title (Rabbittted) is actually what I randomly named the file while progressively saving it. It seems to suit the picture quite well though. I pulled this rabbit design off of one of my old sketch pages. Just some more random painting practice.

 This piece is so random. But I kind of like how it turned out. Not sure the idea is quite right though. Or that it even makes sense. O.o Fun to practice with it though. I like the robot's body, though his eyes gave me a bit of trouble. And I have no idea how he could have cracked his forehead. Maybe he has a friend with a short circuit? XD So yeah, just ignore this.

I pulled this guy off of an old sketch page, too. Ended up changing his eyes, which seemed to suit him a bit better to me.

I had the urge to try painting like this.

Since my laptop skews colors, I tried to brighten it to make it not so dark and it came out more neon then I'd planned. But I was actually really pleased with this style of coloring. It seemed to work really well for me. It also allowed me to give the piece the illusion of having lines, without actually having them, which I liked. Definitely plan to keep trying this painting style. I changed it up a bit from the original tutorial, but it's more or less the same idea. Just blending and smoothing colors until they look right. With the bold color of this one, it reminds me very much of Lisa Frank, which I have always had a love for. ;D

The name Kendra was stuck in my head for this girl. She seems like she'd be a fun companion to have around. I think she'd be shy at first like Fluttershy but could make you giggle like Pinkie Pie. ;D

 Somehow this girl turned into a vampire. I'd originally thought she'd make a fun sister to Cruella Devile. ;D

Misfit Characters - Development ideas

I wanted to see how well I could redraw and reposition my misfit characters. I think I had too many details in the originals. It makes them a bit of a pain to redraw. :/ So I may revise them a bit. Certain ones at least to make them a bit simpler and easier to re draw. But this was something quick and fun that let me try out a few new techniques. The colors are a bit too similar so that the bits really don't stand out so that should be changed, but the scene was fun to draw and I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out.

I really really liked how this one turned out of my misfit characters. Simply because I love nighttime scenes and this one came out more like I pictured it. Still needs a bit of retouching in some places but I loved drawing this so I wouldn't mind at all touching it up. ;D

Sketches and some animal doodles

Just another group of sketches.

I was pretty pleased with how this turned out. It's not perfect, but I think it looks improved from my previous ponies at least. I've been trying to think of a name for her. I thought it might be fun to have her be related to Pinkie Pie but her cutie mark doesn't really suggest a relation there.

I'm not sure why I kept this guy purple. I wasn't really concerned with his color, just wanted to see how the overall image looked in some sort of colored form rather then just the sketch. And his legs look messed up but I like the way he looks mid body up so I may use that part somehow later? We'll see I guess.

I don't often try drawing full body sketches. I tend to practice small areas at a time, like doing head sketches. But I feel I should draw them more so I doodled this. I haven't been drawing very many animals lately either it seems like. I really like how this guy turned out. He still needs some polishing I think, but he makes for a cute little doodle. :)

Just some random doodles of humans. Still working to improve shape and perspective and everything in between.

Some traditional work of a piece I started and didn't really finish from a little while back. Had planned on adding in more details like some of my other full page doodles. May or may not come back to it.

Drawn with any sort of black ink pen or marker I could get my hands on. More then likely a cheap marker for filler areas and micron pens. Drawn on regular printer paper.
