Some digital artwork (finally!)

Played around with a new facial style.  Ended up making a little bakery scene for her as well.

Just another little angle of the bakery girl.

Something random.  Haven't had much time to draw in months so I've gotten a bit rusty.  :/

This is really sketchy but I enjoyed playing in a different style, especially since I feel so rusty.  I don't think I've done much Harry Potter fan art, at least not in a really long time.

New painting style practice

My finished WIP piece as well as some other practice pieces in this style.  I've had a hard time trying to recreate the style of the snowmen piece. :p

Scene studies

I've been working on a project that requires me to create full, detailed scenes, so I've been doodling a few scenes of my own when in between working on it to try to help me get better at it, since full detailed scenes aren't really my forte.  Thought I'd share them with you all.  I couldn't resist seeing what they looked like in other colors either. ;)

Grandmother Willow

I've always loved Grandmother Willow from Disney's Pocahontas.  I thought it would be fun to see if I could replicate her a bit.  Didn't quite get there, but I still liked how it turned out. The top picture shows the original with my creation below and the very bottom picture is a larger single version, just if you're interested in seeing it as a stand alone picture?
(Character and design is copyrighted to Disney.)

Happy Halloween!

Just some sketches and things with me trying out a new digital brush.

And happy halloween to those who celebrate it.  ;)  Happy Thursday to those who don't! :D

Just some random stuff

Bees are so much fun to create. I drew this awhile ago actually, but just thought I'd share him now, as I've been especially busy lately.

Just a crazy duck. Practicing with different brush techniques/etc

Some Black and white (mostly) doodles

Just some silly doodles to try to get back into the swing of drawing. Have been too exhausted, busy and uninspired to draw anything for some time.

I really like playing around with black and white images. There's something so striking about them, even when it's just a silly image of a zombie-like boy with a pig on his head.  ;)

And last, but not least, my favorite, Sir Oinks A Lot!

Just a little silly something for fun to get back into my drawing groove. Still playing around with this style a bit.

Just a silly layout idea I played around with from some quick and recycled images. Not really happy with it, but I do like the tree in the background a little.

I created this little snail and thought he'd make a cute playing card design or something so I threw this together just to see what it'd look like. I may recycle him for another project though. He came out cuter then I expected.

Just wanted to practice doing some 'scene' work. I've been inspired by game art lately, which is what I had in mind for this. But it's darker then I'd intended and isn't quite finished. :/

Practice pieces

I didn't have a lot of time to work on much last night, so I took a few precreated items and added a few new simple shapes to create this as a quick web design idea. I really like putting pages together like this and working on my placement. I definitely need that kind of practice and it's been very inspiring so far. :)  I'd have never imagined that trying to think of a web page design would give me so many ideas. LoL!
Just something silly I created.

Another sketch I decided to color. I experimented with it as well, but it came out much closer to what I had in mind.

I started this from one of the sketches I recently shared. I liked the composition and I do like the colors I used, more or less, but I experimented with texture and my line work and I'm not happy with the results of those at all. Regardless, I thought I would share it with you guys. I may rework it to try play around with my techniques a bit more.

*Sorry for the top being so close/cut off looking. This was just for fun so the display wasn't a huge priority when I decided to share it.

Green people and teapots

A sketchbook page of some green people's heads. Or, um, something like that...

The teapot outline/shape was created with a sort of template (a wall hook actually). But I really liked it, so I traced the outline as best as I could to use as a template and decided to create this. I'm not sure what the middle should have inside, if anything. So I'll consider this a WIP as I may come back to it.

All characters belong to their respective owners.

This wasn't the idea I originally had in mind, but this is what came from mindless doodling while trying to practice on vector-ish work. It makes absolutely no sense, which seems to fit my work quite well.

Worms?  Or something... I'm not sure what most of these are. Practice I guess. They were fun. I need to practice placement/perspective more. I never seem to line anything up right, especially on faces. Doing simple stuff like this helps...I think...

I may try coloring some of these. I still don't feel like I've got a specific technique I prefer to draw in. :/ But I think I'm getting closer each time to finding it.

Digital painting; monsters and faces

These are just some random painting/doodle practice on faces. I always get stumped at their hair. >.< But I was pretty pleased with how the faces turned out themselves. These are probably the best ones I've ever done. And just ignore the random sketches and egg things. Just doodled those up for practice and whatnot. ;)

Just something silly from some basic doodles I was practicing with. I've read through several of these this past week and I think they've been messing with me. LoL! I rarely do dark scenes, in theme or color scheme, and I don't think I've ever done any with a flashlight source. The word bubble seems a bit out of place, but I couldn't seem to resist adding it in.

Sketches and more people

Some quick sketches and color/line/whatever else practice while recuperating from a nasty cold.

The pet here was originally a cat. But it looks more like a dog to me. :/ But I liked the way the girl came out.

Bunches more practice

This is missing something, I just can't figure out what. :/ Nothing I can think of would fit right to me. But I liked the design. I may revisit this later and rework it a bit. I think it makes a rather cute simple stand alone piece. This little owl character actually popped into my head when I was working on my Misfit characters. I thought maybe he might live among them somehow.
These were so much fun. They originally started out as musical notes. And they sort of turned into musical note candles? When I gave them a background, they just looked like a trio singing out happy birthday to someone, so I added the wicks and flames. I would love to create more things with these three. They just seem like a fun little group. And I was really pleased with the colors and overall look of this. I planned on naming them possibly Fa, La, and Lala. ;)

Just a little more practice with digital painting. Still trying to find something that works for me. Created this little guy for a quick study. The green crown should have been yellow it seems. Or black. Definitely would have suited him better with those colors. Live and learn I guess.

The title (Rabbittted) is actually what I randomly named the file while progressively saving it. It seems to suit the picture quite well though. I pulled this rabbit design off of one of my old sketch pages. Just some more random painting practice.

This piece is so random. But I kind of like how it turned out. Not sure the idea is quite right though. Or that it even makes sense. O.o Fun to practice with it though. I like the robot's body, though his eyes gave me a bit of trouble. And I have no idea how he could have cracked his forehead. Maybe he has a friend with a short circuit? XD So yeah, just ignore this.

More people

The name Kendra was stuck in my head for this girl. She seems like she'd be a fun companion to have around. I think she'd be shy at first like Fluttershy but could make you giggle like Pinkie Pie. ;D
Somehow this girl turned into a vampire. I'd originally thought she'd make a fun sister to Cruella Devile. ;D
just random sketches working on some people. The serious hideousness on the left side makes me cringe. :S
