Paint Chip Mini Album

Started a mini paint chipboard album and thought I would give you guys a quick peak at it. Have all the pages pretty much prepped and ready to go, just need to fill them with photos or some journaling or whatever. 😬. And obviously have to figure out a way to hide or alter that stationery set label on the front. LoL!

If you want to see a quick flip through, you can check it out on my instagram page.  ;)

Do something remarkable

Another ‪#‎artjournal‬ work in progress. I laid down a layer of masking tape on this first and the colors came out a bit more muted then I liked. I had to keep adding layers to get some of that vibrancy back. Which is what ‪#‎mixedmedia‬ pages are all about right, adding layers? Still I like how it's turned out so far. I picked up some stickers at ‪#‎tuesdaymorning‬ awhile ago that have a bit of transparency to them and used a few of them here. ‪#‎alwaysremembertofollowyourheart‬. ‪#‎dosomethingremarkable‬ ‪#‎painting‬ ‪#‎layers‬ ‪#‎colorfulpages‬

Luella Purse Makeover

I have had this old Luella Graffiti purse for some time.  Over the years it's gotten very dingy and dirty and stained and has been in need of a bit of a face lift.  So I decided I would spruce it up with a little bit of paint.  However I don't keep fabric paint around much and I didn't want to tackle it with fabric paint pens (it's a pretty big purse after all), so I dug through my supplies and found that I have some Delta Creamcoat Textile Medium.  I've never used it before, but apparently it takes regular acrylic paint and turns it into fabric paint.  I don't have any other Delta Creamcoat paints on hand, as I usually just buy the Apple Barrel brand.  I mixed them up according to the instructions on the bottle anyway, and tried them out.  The worse that would happen I figured would that I ruined an old purse and wasted a little bit of paint.

The results turned out a bit better then I expected.  The medium seemed to work fine with the paint and while the fabric soaked most of it up pretty quickly, it still spread and covered well.  I even added some embellishments with regular fabric pens (sorry, I don't know the names of them right off).  The instructions say to heat set the paint which I haven't had time to do yet, and to let it dry for 7 days so it's not quite finished, but here's what it looks like so far.  I decided to use the same style I've been doing for my mixed media work lately, as I really like the look it gives.  I only used three colors of paint so that it wouldn't overpower the purse and so the white would still shine through as well as the original graffiti design.  I really am pleased with how it turned out and can't wait to finish it so that I can start using it again!

(Sorry the pictures aren't very good, especially of the before.  I forgot to take them before I started painting!)

From around the studio

These are just some random photos and items from around my studio.  Some I've shared in various places already so you may have already seen them, but thought I would round them up and share them here as well.

Mixed media sticker sheets

You may remember seeing one of these the other day, but I've since created a few others to go with it. These are actually sticker sheets that I've painted on and doodled up a bit. I'm thinking I may offer these for sale in my etsy shop. I thought it might be cool to see how other people use them in their art and scrapbook pieces.

Mixed Media - doodles

I've got a bit of a cold, so my art is being pushed to the side in favor of kleenexes and sleep at the moment, but I thought I'd share a page or two I managed to doodle on this past week. I'm still feeling my way around with the whole mixed media idea, but I think I like where its taking me. :)

Magic WIP mixed media page

Thought I'd share another glimpse at a new mixed media page.  Like most of these pages in my journal/sketchbook, this one is still a WIP, but I like the way it's coming along.  Hopefully I'll eventually finish a few of these pages and be able to share those with you all as well.  ;)

Mixed Media pages

Still busy working on some projects, but in my moments away from those and my computer, I've rediscovered paint and have been playing around with some mixed media stuffs. I've been enjoying it immensely and I love that its allowed me to be more free in my creativity. Here's just a few of my pages so far I thought I'd share with you all.  They're still a bit of a WIP.

IPhone 5 Customized Cover

I was shopping at the dollar tree around Christmas this past year and came across some white, blank Iphone 5 cases.  As I have an Iphone 5 and have been wanting to create my own cover for ages, finding these were pretty epic.  I think I only purchased two, since I wasn't sure what to do with them or if my ideas would work, but I would love to get more.  So far I've only decorated one, but hopefully soon you'll be seeing the other one in all of it's decorated glory as well.
I'm really not happy with the lettering, I'd have rather left it off entirely, but it still suits me really well.  I used some basic sand paper to try to smooth the surface a bit, but my impatience left long streaks in the case from being sanded unevenly.  You can only really see them if you really inspect the case though.  I used basic, cheap acrylic paint which adhered to the case surprisingly well.  The cases started out white, so I didn't waste time on adding any primer, however I think it would have come out better if I had.  Next time I suppose.  I was also deeply inspired by Alissa Burke's general art techniques and used various mediums and applications to make the designs as unique as I could.  Although I may have went just a tad bit overboard with them.  LoL!   I also added a sealer over the top to keep the paint from chipping or scraping off, which I ended up doing during the creation when I tried writing on it with one of my glitter pens.  As far as it holding up to wear and tear, I've yet to try it out.  But for a dollar, it's already outlived my expectations for it.  So there you have it, my own unique custom Iphone case.  Thanks for stopping by!  See you next crafting time!

Free wallpaper and some more doodles

Some painting practice and trying to figure out some brushes for a project. Am really pleased with how some of these turned out though.

I also have a free wallpaper download of a simple My Little Pony (Rainbow Dash) picture if anyone would like to use it on their computer. I have four versions of it that you can download here.

Paint or pastels?

This is one of the pieces I created this weekend. Can you tell if it's paint or pastels? To me, it looks like it's done with pastels, but it's actually done with acrylic paint. No one else seems to like it, but I really liked it, therefore I thought I would post it. :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

*This is one of those pieces I said I would past back when I was sick. It's something a little different, but I'm really pleased with how this turned out. I did several different types of pictures and painted them on blank cards using my own stencils.

Still life

I love this picture. It's sort of a copy of a still life I saw on the front of my notebook. The picture didn't have any color and it was alot different then my picture, but I think I'll keep this in my own collection because I love it! I've not really ever done too many still lifes before. This wasn't a still life either, since it was based on someone elses' art, but I guess it would be considered a still life anyway. :) I used acrylic paint to make it. I used bright colors because they seem to make my art just jump off the page. I've been trying to use more bright colors to do that, but sometimes it's hard to only use bright colors. :)

Chicka chickas

I love this picture, even though it's not my best work. It really doesn't even make sense, but I think it's so cute. It's 3 birds, not penguins, in a tree. I applied the "scrapbooking" technique to this, since I cut out the limb, leaves, and birds and painted them before glueing them down over my painting of the tree. Right now, I have this picture framed and hanging in my room. There's just something about it that I love. :)

Silhouette

I absolutely love the look of these two. One is a silhouette of one bird on a blue background and the other is a silhouette of two birds on an orange background. I thought this style would make a good theme for someone's room.

My Prince

Lately, another friend and I have been talking alot about finding out "Prince Charming"s. For some reason, I keep thinking about fairytales and the young girl who kissed the frog who was really a prince. I even sent her a card I made (which looked more like a brochure) that was like a flyer for a kingdom. In is, I said that "Prince Charming" was missing and had a picture of a frog on the front.

So, I thought over the weekend that this would suit us quite nicely. I have a story in mind for this picture, but have yet to put any of it on paper. I guess I'm still working out the kinks. :)
If anyone else is looking for their prince charmings, always remember that they'll be in the last place you look. And don't forget those swamps! Even in the least likely of places there are treasures! Lol! :)

It's a small world, after all...

Well, I figured I'd add some images, since I keep saying I love to draw and make pictures. I just have to warn you that all images are copyrighted, so don't even think about taking them!

If you would like to see more of my work or would like to buy some artwork or contact me for a job or whatever, just leave me a comment with your email address or a way to get in touch with you and I will contact you.

Otherwise, just sit back and enjoy the view! Life's too short to waste it! :)
