A house, some sketches and other doodles

The title really says it all.  Some practice in my latest style of a cute little house, some sketches of random things to try to get all this rustiness out, and some random doodles for more practice.
I've had a hard time with this style, trying to recreate the look I want, but the more I play with it, the easier it has seemed to get.

Sketchbook pages - February 2014

Just a quick peek at a few of my sketchbook pages.  (Sorry for the terrible lighting.  Haven't had time to photograph anything properly.  :/ )

Just a small sad little elephant doodle for fun and practice to try to get back in the drawing groove.

These were extremely fun to doodle. Just sketched them out quickly and messily for fun and to practice. I would definitely like to work them into something usable, but we'll see how that goes I suppose.

Just another compilation of some random people/head sketches I've mindlessly doodled up lately.

Green people and teapots

A sketchbook page of some green people's heads. Or, um, something like that...

The teapot outline/shape was created with a sort of template (a wall hook actually). But I really liked it, so I traced the outline as best as I could to use as a template and decided to create this. I'm not sure what the middle should have inside, if anything. So I'll consider this a WIP as I may come back to it.

All characters belong to their respective owners.

Happy Mothers Day

This weekend is Mother's day here in the US, so I thought I would doodle a little something silly for it. Hopefully this dude makes it up to her later with an actual gift or something. :P

Oh, and happy mothers day to all the mothers out there. Whether it's a celebrated holiday where you are or not, mother's should always be appreciated for all they do. And on more then just one day I think, too. <3 p="">

Sketches and more people

Some quick sketches and color/line/whatever else practice while recuperating from a nasty cold.

The pet here was originally a cat. But it looks more like a dog to me. :/ But I liked the way the girl came out.

More people

The name Kendra was stuck in my head for this girl. She seems like she'd be a fun companion to have around. I think she'd be shy at first like Fluttershy but could make you giggle like Pinkie Pie. ;D
Somehow this girl turned into a vampire. I'd originally thought she'd make a fun sister to Cruella Devile. ;D
just random sketches working on some people. The serious hideousness on the left side makes me cringe. :S

Just some random doodles of humans. Still working to improve shape and perspective and everything in between.

Some traditional work of a piece I started and didn't really finish from a little while back. Had planned on adding in more details like some of my other full page doodles. May or may not come back to it.

Drawn with any sort of black ink pen or marker I could get my hands on. More then likely a cheap marker for filler areas and micron pens. Drawn on regular printer paper.

Been practicing people and just basic stuff. I've been incredibly inspired by Xamag's art, which you can check out here. While I've never really drawn people with horns before, they've actually been a huge inspiration to me. They seem to give my bland characters a bit more personality and life somehow. It's been fun pushing myself to work harder and better and in new ways. These were all so much fun to draw. Especially the middle lady in red. ;D

So far, I call these two Ric and Rac. I think I may rename them and use Ric and Rac for better characters though. :p

No idea what to say about this really. Just practicing stuff I guess.

Tea and sketches

Sorry for being so quiet. Just been insanely busy. :S And I've been uploading some of my sketches and whatnot to my scrapbook file rather then to my regular DA page, just to keep it from looking to terrible. :) But took a few minutes to doodle this up last night. Wanted to try creating some quirky characters and wanted to do something similar to Alice in Wonderland, so I somehow created this. :/

Oh, Can you spot the white rabbit? :)

Just some random practice, specifically working on eyes.

Just some random sketches. Trying to work on my people skills, which really really suck. :/

I've also been putting some other things into my scrapbook file on Deviant art. They may not get shared in other places, so click here if you want to check them out to see if you've missed anything. ;)

Tablet Graffiti

I drew these last night on my graffiti wall on Facebook, and I said I would share them with you guys to show you how much better my drawings look when I use a program that allows you to vary your colors and lets you have shadows and light.

This first one is the first picture I drew on my graffiti wall with my tablet.
It's certainly not perfect, but I am very pleased with how well I did the skin tones. They look more realistic then the ones I've done before.

This is the second picture I did, still working on my skin tones. This picture was harder to get the colors just right because I made it further away and could hardly see what I was doing on the teeny tiny screen I have. But I still think it turned out well. What do you guys think?

This third picture is one I did of "me". Or how I imagine me I guess. I'm holding my tablet and pen if you can't tell. :) I just did a basic black and white, just to see what it would look like. I really like how it turned out though. Basically it looks the same as a few I've done recently on real paper with a pen.

This last picture was more of an experiment with blending backgrounds. I just wanted to see how well I could blend my background while still having some light shine through. Sort of like a fog effect or something. Plus, I like drawing robots for some reason. :) Overall, he turned out better than I thought he would. I gave him better blended cheek color than any of the others I drew.

Overall, I'm quite satisfied with how these turned out. I can't wait to try it out again, I just need to think of some other things to draw first. :) (I told you I was in a creative rut!) If I get anymore ideas, I'll try to draw them and post them, so you can see how well I progress. :)
