On the road to recovery...

It's official. I have the flu, and thus have been much, much too ill to post anything new this week. However, I am finally feeling better and am able to sit and stand without feeling like I am about to pass out, so I thought this morning I would sit up in bed with my laptop and let everyone know that I haven't abandoned the art world. :) Actually, the day I really started getting sick was the day I created several new pieces of art, and have come up with some new ideas while I've been ill, so once I get some more of my strength back, I'll hopefully be able to post some pics of what I've created so far. I'm actually really excited about my new work, since it's something a bit different then my other artwork and looks and feels more like what I've always wanted my artwork to look like. So be sure to check back in a few days to check out my new creations. :)

Oh, and just a word of advice, if you do get the flu, be sure you get lots and lots of rest. You'll need it. :)

Ice-eee

It's been fairly cold this week, as we've had another bout of snow, and the temperatures are supposed to get really low tomorrow, especially since it will be windy. It made me think of this little guy, so I decided to share him with you guys. :) I'm not sure what he's looking at in the distance, but in my opinion, it's probably a warm little cabin with smoke curling up out of the chimney. :)

Another Birthday!

My oldest nephew's birthday is this weekend, so to celebrate, I thought I would draw him a picture for the occasion. (And I'm going to take all three of them to see the new Veggietales movie, too.) I drew this on facebook with my tablet. Hope everyone is having a good weekend! ;D

Cutesy, cutesy, cutesy

I just loved how this turned out. It's not anywhere near perfect, but it really looks good I think. It looks like something from a children's book. Maybe it will be one day! :D Anyway, I did this with the graffiti app on facebook and with my tablet. I hope you enjoy and have a good weekend! :)

Illustration Friday

Okay, this is a first for me. My very first, official, Illustration Friday. The theme for this week was 'stitch'. I did several different ones, but this one is the best, and overall, my favorite. I'm going to try to start doing this weekly, but with me, it may not be. :)

A little loopy

I've been experimenting with my tablet some more and here's another new creation I've made. :) A crazy duck! He looks somewhat psychotic, but still a bit cutesy in a way. I saved this pic with two different backgrounds, and this is the one that I think I like the best. It's still really rough, even for a rough sketch, but I thought he was cute. :) So, here he is! Enjoy! :D

Mmm...Good!

Here's something I created with my tablet. I'm not sure what the girl thinks is so good, but it certainly seems like she's enjoying it. :) I'm really please with how this turned out. Especially her tongue. :9

Early Flowers

I did this with my tablet a few days ago, but I've been drawing this flower for a long time. It's really the first thing I ever drew that looked good that made me want to keep drawing. :) I drew a whole series of pictures of this flower with lady bugs and polka dots and stripes. I've always kept it in black and white most of the time because it makes it look so much more...well, something. Anyway, I did this a couple of ways, but this is the one that I like the most, so I thought I would share it. :)

A little crabby...

When you're sick, it's easy to let the sickness take over so that little things, no matter what they are, will get on your nerves and make you feel worse, so that when someone asks you something, you angrily snap back at them. Essentially, being sick can make us a little...well, crabby. And since I've been sick this week, I know I've been a bit crabby to everyone, although I do try to apologize if I am. Still, I thought I would post this cute little crabby I made with my tablet so that even though we can all be a bit crabby at times, we can also be nice little crabs as well. :)

Quote of the Week

"Don't let success go to your head or failure go to your heart."

~ Anonymous
*These certainly are words an artist should live by. :) Especially the second half of the quote because it's so easy to let one little failure or rejection keep you from going on and doing what you love.

Shoo fly, or I'll eat you!

Hey! It's nice to be back on here! I've been so sick and so busy and just so exhausted that I haven't had time to post anything recently. But, the good news is that I was still creating art, so I have some new things to post! :D Here's one I did using my scrapbooking method. Or a cut and paste technique, if you will. :) Can you tell what his tongue is? It's from a party favor. It's the part that curls up and when you blow on it, it inflates and uncurls. That's why it's so shiny. :) That thing was hard to glue down though, since it kept wanting to roll back up! (If you ever use one in your art, be sure to let it stretch and flatten for a day or so to keep it from rolling back on you.)

Also, while I've been away being sick and staying busy, I found some really good, adult water colors. Now, when I say adult, I mean that they're regular watercolors, compared to the Crayola children ones I've been using lately. I just got them last night, so I tried them out before I went to bed, and here's the best that I have come up with so far.

Here's my little ol' doggy.

And here's my little ol' kitty.

I know, I'm already breaking my rule of not posting more than one picture per each post, but since I've been away sick, I figured I'd make up for lost time. :) Hope everyone else is keeping up with their resolutions better than I am. :)

Coffee art

Okay, blogger is finally cooperating with me, so I just uploaded the video I wanted to. I also added the link so that you guys can see this neat video of someone creating some real coffee art in case the player doesn't work. Here is the link I found the video at. I hope you guys enjoy it. :) Next time you get your favorite cup of coffee, don't forget about the wonderful 'art' that goes into making it. :)

It's a bit windy...

It's been a bit windy today and last night, and since there were reports of so many tornados yesterday, I thought I would post something to go along with the weather. This was just a quick sketch, but it seemed more than fitting for today, since the wind blew our stuff every which way on our porch this morning, and even uprooted one of the 20 foot or higher pine trees that surround our house! Thankfully it didn't hurt anything and was so thin and gangly it probably wouldn't have hurt anything even if it had landed on something. :)

Something a little different

I got a watercolor video over the weekend and was dying to watch it, so I did and I absolutely loved what the artist did with watercolors! So, I thought I would try my hand at some of the techniques she used, although because I'm using very cheap, cheap, cheap watercolors at the moment (since I haven't been to any nearby craft stores recently), the outcome is not as good as hers. But still, I thought I would post some of what I came up with anyway to let you see what I've been up to. :)In this picture I used some varying techniques, just to see how they would turn out. As you can see, it's not great, but I think it would make a great background for a picture, so maybe when I finally get my paint programs installed on my computer for my tablet, I'll be able to put these to good use. :)

New years blog resolutions

It's time to ring in the new year. And what better way is there to do that then to have a list of resolutions? The only problem is, I'm bad at following resolutions. I don't know if it's my procrastinating nature or what, but I thought that maybe if I apply my resolutions to my blog instead, it will help me achieve them, as well as helping to get me more organized and more creative with my art. So, here are my goals this year for my blog:

1.) Don't over post. I seem to have a tendency to post three or four pictures on one post, which really isn't a great thing for me to do, as it means I usually have nothing to post later on days when I'm not feeling too creative. So, I need to limit my posts to one or two pictures at most, depending on what I'm posting of course.

2.) Update and organize my blog. Although it may not look very messy, my blog really isn't very organized. I'd like to group my links into their appropriate groups, as well as have them alphebetized, which I don't think mine are at the moment. I'm also behind on my quotes of the week as well as my regular posts.

3.) Post more regularly. With the holidays and new year, it's been so busy that I haven't had time to create anything, much less post anything. So, this year I plan to create more and post more often, even if it's just an interesting sketch or if I've just gotten a new box of pencils. :)

4.) Create something as often as I can. I would say that I will try to create something every day, but I know that's just not possible for me. I'm creative, but I'm not always that creative. I don't always have ideas and sometimes the ideas I have are not very good ones, so they don't always pan out into anything, so I am not going to try to force myself to make something when I don't fell like it. Then art won't be fun anymore. :)

5.) Try to create something art related each week with my neices and nephews. On my other blog, I've tried to create something as often as I can with the kids in my life, but that's not always easy to do, especially when they're young and have dramatically varying interests. But, with the new year, I would like to create more with them and let them see how fun it is to be an artist. I just wish I had had someone in my life who would have done something like that with me.

6.) Just have fun! I think this is the most important goal of all. I really want to be an artist, but I don't want art to become a chore or something I no longer like to do. So, while I continue to try and get my art out into the world, I need to remember to keep it fun. Even if it does become a real job for me, creating art can still be fun. :)

So, has anyone else gotten their list of resolutions written out? Got anything interesting planned on achieving this year? Just leave a comment or link below and let us all know what you've got planned this year! :D

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

Sorry I haven't posted anything recently, but once the new year is over, I should be back on here more often. :)
